The chairs of hairstylists has often become therapy seats for melanated women. A bad day could often be turned around with a slay. The girls shared with us an issue one of the girls were having with boys bullying her as she walked home from school. We shared our own trials and triumphs with self image and love. I shared with the girls that you have to know you're poppin no matter what. People will try to tear you down but they should never give up their power. Reminding them that it's also important to have each other's back in our community. If you see your sistahs head held down remind her to lift it. We are losing sense of community with each generation. My hope is that with a little love and creating moments like this we can restore these bonds. These girls rocked.
